# You cannot believe your way back to the sacred What is yearned for is not belief itself but the world belief once disclosed: saturated with meaning, embedded in tradition, animated by ritual, mediated through exemplars. Adopting propositions does not reintegrate us into that world. What is needed is an ecology of practices, an interlocking system of disciplines, virtues and communities enacting wisdom across multiple forms of knowing. You have to live your way back into it.
