# Speech orders chaos from within When the biblical authors want to speak of personal presence they reach for the Ruach Elohim; when they want the move from chaos to order they reach for speech. Speaking is something internal coming out of you and impacting reality in concrete form; Wisdom (Proverbs 8) carries the same ordering role. Speech, then, is the bridge between interiority and world. This sits in deliberate tension with the separation reading of language: the same faculty that separates is the one that orders. The Genesis narrative makes the mechanism visible. God names, and the name is the creation of an identity. Then God looks at what he named and evaluates whether the actuality matches the word. Name, observe, evaluate: the three-step pattern is the scientific process in miniature. Genesis does not compete with science; it contains it, because the same faculty that speaks reality into coherence is the faculty the scientist exercises when proposing a theory and checking it against the world.
