self-authored-spirituality-cannot-transform

# Self-authored spirituality cannot transform "Spiritual but not religious" usually resolves into a religion of the self: by the self (self-designed, no lineage), for the self (inward orientation), in terms of the self (felt-sense as the only criterion). Such a system contains no real Other, so it can confirm but not confront, move but not change, comfort but not transform. When it fails, the practitioner blames themselves, but the failure is structural, not personal. The real test of a worldview is whether it is structurally open to being shaped by something you could not have authored.
