seeking-connection-presupposes-the-connection-it-seeks

# Seeking connection presupposes the connection it seeks We make meaning; we do not find it. To look for meaning as if it lay out there to be discovered is already to assume I stand apart from it, waiting to be joined. But the reaching is itself a relation. To want connection to something larger than myself, I must already be joined to it, or the wanting could not begin. The longing is the bond, speaking. So the search does not prove the lack. It betrays the belonging it pretends to seek. Nothing exists alone, and even our exile is a way of being held. The question was never whether we are connected, but whether we will turn and notice.
