# Otherness supplies the prediction error The brain is a prediction engine, and left alone it confirms itself: the salience landscape narrows toward what already fits the model. The only way to reconfigure predictive machinery is error, and genuine error requires contact with perspectives and practices you could not have generated yourself. Other people are epistemically necessary precisely because they are not you. This is the cognitive-science ground for why participation, not introspection, is the engine of transformation.
