gratitude-is-creed-not-mood

# Gratitude is creed, not mood To give thanks is not to report a mood but to make a claim. Thanksgiving says the world is held and not random, that the story ends in Pascha and not the grave; the feeling, when it comes, follows the claim rather than producing it. This is why the psalter is prayed daily and not only when the heart agrees. "This is the day the Lord has made" is not David describing his spirits but commanding his soul, laying a frame over reality before reality can lay its own over him. Gratitude is the creed, spoken until it is felt. Related: [[the-soul-becomes-what-it-attends-to]], [[spiritual-disciplines-are-practices-of-remembrance]], [[grace-is-an-economy-of-gift-not-merit]]
